This could be a genuine question or it could be the most moronic question I've ever posted on here. On the TfL website a link reading "It's cheaper to travel off-peak" appeared, thought I'd click on it to see what kind of information they had displayed given the numerous variations in fares across the Greater London Area that have many fare anomalies. Under the rail services section for the Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and National Rail services in London: - Off-peak fares apply at all other times, and if you travel from a station outside Zone 1 to a station in Zone 1 between 16:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday
Has going against the flow into zone 1 in the evening peak always given an off-peak fare? I only ask because heading out from a zone 1 station to a non-zone 1 station has both morning and evening peak time charges. I was aware of the peak direction based fares on LO services to Watford Jct but didn't know the Tube, DLR and National Rail offered the same thing or when this started.
Disclaimer: Before anyone says, I have not been living under a rock for any amount of time.

Disclaimer: Before anyone says, I have not been living under a rock for any amount of time. The contra-peak IN to Zone 1 fare charging on LU / TfL Rail / Overground has been in place for a few years. I can't recall the specific year it arrived but possibly 2014 or 2015. I think, but am happy to be corrected, that NR fares into Zone 1 using PAYG were aligned with TfL ones a year or two after TfL adopted the regime. As ever happy to be corrected if someone has the precise dates.
