***very much easier this time***
I start off at a certain station with a C Stock. I go Amount (1) of stations. I change into a D Stock and go Amount (2) of stations. I stay in the train and go Amount (3) of stations. I change into a stock that I haven´t been on before and go amount (4) of stations.
Where did I start off + end?
Amount (1) = ? Amount (2) = Am(1) / 5 Amount (3) = Am(2) / 2 Amount (4) = Am(1) * 2 + 3

let's call Amount(1), a; Amount(2), b and so on...
a=? b=a/5 c=b/2=a/10 d=2a+3
if we start with the smallest, c=1 then a=10, b=2 and d=23. this is probably the right number, as if c=2, d would be 43, which seems too big.
so C stock for 10, D stock for 3 and then another stock for 23 stations.
I'll leave that bit for someone else to get!

Marty - not being funny mate, but most of us haven't got a clue as to what this is all about. Try asking something that most people can comprehend and you may find you'll get more response's

if we start with the smallest, c=1 then a=10, b=2 and d=23. this is probably the right number, as if c=2, d would be 43, which seems too big. so C stock for 10, D stock for 3 and then another stock for 23 stations. I'll leave that bit for someone else to get! Never was any good at this sort of thing, but using the numbers from Amershami, here is something possible. Start off at Paddington on the H & C travel 10 stops to Aldgate East and change onto a D-Stock for three stops. This leads you to Mile End. Change for the Central Line. Can't go 23 stops Eastbound, but can do Westbound. Ealing is out as there aren't enough stops. So 23 stops from Mile End leads you to South Ruislip. Again, probally totally wrong. But an inspired guess.

I couldn't get my head round this to start with, all this "Amount (2) = Am(1) / 5" business . Fortunately this was decoded by amershamsi. Nice work! The actual decoded question is "If I board a C stock train and travel 10 stops, get off, board a D stock train and travel 3 stops, get off, and then board another type of train and travel 23 stops, where did I start and finish my journey?" Well, there's several different answers to this. pgb has come up with one, but there's another eight possibilities! Here we go then: 1. Tower Hill - Sloane Square 10 stops C stock (Circle) Sloane Square - Earl's Court 3 stops D stock (District) Earl's Court - Cockfosters 23 stops 1973 stock (Piccadilly) 2. Great Portland Street - Hammersmith 10 stops C stock (H&C)Change stations! Hammersmith - Earl's Court 3 stops D stock (District) Earl's Court - Cockfosters 23 stops 1973 stock (Piccadilly) 3. Great Portland Street - Mile End 10 stops C stock (H&C) Mile End - West Ham D stock 3 stops (District) West Ham - Queensbury 23 stops 1996 stock (Jubilee) 4. Farringdon - Gloucester Road 10 stops C stock (Circle) Gloucester Road - Baron's Court 3 stops D stock (District) Baron's Court - Oakwood 23 stops 1973 stock (Piccadilly) 5. Cannon Street - Gloucester Road 10 stops C stock (Circle) Gloucester Road - Baron's Court 3 stops D stock (District) Baron's Court - Oakwood 23 stops 1973 stock (Piccadilly) 6. Euston Square - Sloane Square 10 stops C stock (Circle) Sloane Square - Earl's Court 3 stops D stock (District) Earl's Court - Cockfosters 23 stops 1973 stock (Piccadilly) 7. Farringdon - West Ham 10 stops C stock (H&C) West Ham - Mile End 3 stops D stock (District) Mile End - South Ruislip 23 stops 1992 stock (Central) 8. Liverpool Street - East Ham 10 stops C stock (H&C) East Ham - West Ham D stock 3 stops (District) West Ham - Queensbury 23 stops 1996 stock (Jubilee) Possibly for a short period in the early 1980's just after D stock was intoduced, and before the Bakerloo was cut back from Watford Junction, you could've had: Euston Square or High Street Kensington - Mansion House 10 stops C stock (Circle) Mansion House - Embankment 3 stops D stock (District) Embankment - Hatch End 23 stops 1972/1938 stock(Bakerloo) or: Great Portland Street or Aldgate - Victoria 10 stops C stock (Circle) Victoria - Embankment 3 stops D stock(District) Embankment - Hatch End 23 stops 1972/1938 stock (Bakerloo) Also, a bit cheeky , but #3 and #8 above could have you finishing by changing at West Ham on to the North London Line (class313) and going 23 stops to Richmond! I know the NLL isn't an Underground line, but it is on the Underground map! ;D There are options of starting on the Circle at various places, changing to District, ending up on Piccadilly and going around the Heathrow loop. Those answers depend if the Picadilly Line train stops at Turnham Green or not! I haven't worked out those options as I've got a bit of a headache, and I think I need a lie down ;D ;D ;D

I'm inclined to believe that the D stock reversed after two stations. Which probably means that it paid a visit to Olympia. Given this possability, the D stock must have been boarded at High St Kensington. 10 Stations from HSK on a C stock is either Barbican or Mansion House (Wimbledon only being 9 stations away).
So Barbican or Mansion House to High Street Kensington to Olympia to Earl's Court to Cockfosters.
