It states on BBC News London that the Heathrow Connect service is likely to be suspended for the whole day due to “ trains need urgent repairs “ any one with more detail ?

This is noted on the RealTimeTrains website against a specific cancelled train:
This service was cancelled throughout due to a problem with the overhead line power collection equipment

Sounds like a serious (potential) problem with the pantographs (or associated electricals) has been found.
