Why not?
It would make more sense, also fewer stations via Lewisham (a guaranteed fast run from Lewisham to London)and more importantly Lewisham is fast becoming SE London's very own Stratford, with population growth, major redevelopment of the town centre in the coming years and possibly a Westfields too.
Apart form the fact I see little sense in axing a perfectly well used and popular semi fast Charing Cross to Gillingham service in favour of a the woefully slow Luton to Rainham Thameslink service via Greenwich (in fact I see little sense in Thameslink coming down this neck of the woods at all) surely they should see that if this service is going to run, then it should go via Lewisham instead of sleepy stations such as Maze Hill or Westcombe Park, these stations are even sleepier than Erith and Belvedere are these days and yet this service wont call at these stations.
Is there a reason why Thameslink cant run via Lewisham? Because it seems to me that by having it run via Greenwich your defeating the purpose of creating little conflict and the simplification of the lines into London Bridge, you may as well restore Charing X services via Greenwich.
