I was on the Picc heading into town from Heathrow when that was happening. Full credit to the driver for trying to keep us informed, but by the sounds of it he was only getting bits and pieces of information that didn't make complete sense to him from control (or whoever is meant to supply that information). First of all it was just Piccadilly line not stopping at Holbon in either direction due to overcrowding, then a couple of stations later it was just the Central line that was being non-stopped. Then it was no trains on either line are stopping at Holborn due to overcrowding "it sounds like there has been some sort of problem on the Central line, but I'll let you know anything else if they tell me"). As I got off at Green Park I half heard an announcement about a problem on the Central in the Ruislip area, which doesn't obviously seem likely to cause problems at Holborn in particular. It would be either the Line Controller or the Line Information Assistant giving out info and from the sound of it the Piccadilly is just as bad at passing on info as the Central

When I looked this morning there were too issues: Signal Failure out in the Ruislip direction and Holborn being shut.

At around 08:30 a signal failure suspended the service between Ruislip Gardens and West Ruislip joined at approx 09:45 by the suspension between Liverpool St. and Marble Arch owing to the Holborn fire alert. There was about a 15min overlap between these two incidents meaning that you must have been on the system around 09:30-45 ish?

That timeframe seems right. I met my partner at Heathrow T2 around 08:15-08:30ish and travelled from there to Canary Wharf via Green Park.

Having watched the youtube videos of both Oxford Circus and Holborn during the recent incidents, the procedures implemented by station staff is pretty slick and commendable - the stations were cleared quickly, inspector sands was doing his thing, do not enter signs were flashing. Clearing a station at the end of the morning rush hour so quickly, with a mixture of commuters and tourists, is impressive.
In one of the videos, despite people streaming out up the stairs out of Oxford Circus, the 'emergency, do not enter' sign flashing and beeping, the evacuation message playing, a person is walking down the steps with his suit case, until somebody tells him to turn around. I have been at Oxford Circus during an evacuation once before, and the staff at the gateline were speaking almost like cabin crew telling people to jump down the slides "walk through the gates, leave the station, walk through the gates, leave the station".
Unfortunately, a sign of the times that these procedures are so well rehearsed.

Station evacuation plans are all part of staff familiarisation, when I first started at Paddington with two other new recruits in 1997 we were thoroughly drilled as to what each member of staff at a given location was expected to do. Oxford Circus is regularly evacuated for overcrowding so its no surprise they're good at it

The "Shocked and Frightened" Passengers were in no hurry to scuttle to the safe fresh air at Holborn. They were quite content to film the whole thing on their phones as the staff frantically tried to clear the platform for the LFB. I spoke to the driver who told me they were getting on everyones nerves!
