Is there any reason why there's no Night Tube service on the Bakerloo? Is there any likelihood of it coming in the future?

Is there any reason why there's no Night Tube service on the Bakerloo? Is there any likelihood of it coming in the future? No business case I believe is the official reason. I suspect the Network Rail interface may well be the bigger reason however, especially bearing in mind where the depot is relative to the LU section of line.

Night Tube is only on the lines that have been upgraded.
The Bakerloo will be one day.The in town section is pretty well served by night buses.

The problem with the Bakerloo is getting access to the Network Rail section. Unlike LU the mayor simply can't exert direct control on Network Rail. It would be a big challenge to run a Queen's Park to Elephant service with no access to/from Stonebridge Park depot. The Bakerloo signalling in any event is comparatively modern. Most maintenance carried out overnight is on track and points, which doesn't really change whether a line is upgraded or not - in fact it probably increases on an upgraded line due to the increase in train miles and speed.

Oops - forgot about that one but airport traffic is important. In the case of the District line upgrade a lot of points are being removed. In theory new trains should have less track damage impact.

The signalling might be from the 90's but still requires the same regime as the rest of the other lines.

There'll be a sort of Night Tube on New Year's Eve into New Year's Day, that's the only time the Bakerloo runs a 24 hour service. Realistically Night Tube proper for Bakerloo is not going to happen until at least new rolling stick, new signalling, and the Lewisham extension are all done. So probably about 10-15 years away. Most of Bakerloo's route in central area is covered by Northern (CX), Picc, Vic and Jubilee, so it is not seen as being needed so much. I think it is rather unfair on those who live up north of Baker Street, although I'm sure Night Bus coverage of these areas must be pretty decent.

In the case of the District line upgrade a lot of points are being removed. Removed because the upgrade makes them redundant or for some other reason? Unless there are non-trivial track realignments I'd assume that the line(s) would still need most of the existing points. z!

Removed as they are (mostly) assets that are redundant for most of the time and require regular maintenance to achieve that. Gone so far are: Hornchurch, Bromley-by-Bow, Mansion House, Gloucester Road, Putney Bridge, East Putney, Ealing Broadway sidings. Due to go are: East Ham, Aldgate East, Embankment (replaced by Westminster/Embankment), South Kensington

The downside is that this gives less flexibility to turn trains in times of disruption and requires longer distance suspensions for engineering works.

They could run a night service Elephant-Queen's Pk with the stock at London Rd Depot & Queens Pk.

Some other reversing bays and crossovers on the District are going as they are not in regular use, and they increase costs both ongoing maintenance and more importantly for the Sub-Surface renewal 4LM programme. Operations aren't convinced this is a good idea as it limits options at times of disruption, but it is what it is.

As I said it will be considered again after Lewisham extension, new trains, new signalling are all done.
