As of 15:45 the District Line has only just changed to minor delays, with severe disruption for most of the day so far.
For my commute this morning the train was only running to South Kensington with Tower Hill being very crowded. On the train to Fenchurch Street I only saw a handful Westbound LU services between Upminster & West Ham.
Does anyone on here know what exactly over ran? Or does anyone else have a story to share of their delayed journey.

Services during overrun operated: Upminster-South Kensington Richmond-West Kensington (reverse from platform) Ealing Bdwy-West Kensington Wimbledon-Parsons Green.
Once the all-clear was given at 08.25, services could then only operate as: Ealing Bdwy-Edgware Rd (70-77) Wimbledon-Tower Hill (101-120) Upminster-Richmond (4xx series) Upminster-Wimbledon (5xx series) due to several points secured around Earl's Court.
I personally was sent to Fulham Broadway at 06.30 to relieve a night shift driver, who'd been there with train since 05.10. The station was eventually opened when services resumed at 08.25.

Ealing Broadway to Edgware Road, when was the last time that happened on a more than one-off basis?

Lots of stock and crews going on at Earl's Court throughout the day as Edgware Road trains ended up in 1 and Upminster/Tower Hill trains in 2... assuming therefore the problem was with the various points east of the station (i.e. the ones being replaced, I forget the numbers...)?
Worth noting it also took out the Circle for an hour or so at the start of traffic and had knock-on effects on the H&C service too.

Ongoing problem at Earls Court again today; all High St Ken/Edgware Rd trains via pfm.1 all City trains via pfm.2 slight difference today is that: Richmond-Edgware Rd (70-77) all booked Richmond trains to Wimbledon Ealing Broadway to Edgware Road, when was the last time that happened on a more than one-off basis? There are still the daily passenger train workings between these two stations.

Causing fun & games at Wimbledon... First train listed as going out on the describer is Platform 2 (where the train is just pulling in), there's a guy on the platform shouting 'Platform 3, Platform 3 is the next train out', the auto announcer declares it's Platform 2, this is quickly corrected to Platform 3 and played several times in a row for clarity, I sit down on the train on Platform 3, and the train on Platform 4 promptly leaves with about five people on it...! At least they seem to be departing fairly close together!

All back to normal from today Is there clarity on the unforseen issue that caused the problem and overrun of work?

A multitude of failures from track to engineering vehicles failing time was never on there side personally should of waited until the August bank holiday and would of gained an extra day

Pre-made sets of points incorrectly installed and failing to operate when tested.

Because Circle and H&C stable trains at Ealing Common and Upminster and Barking. So if the District has problems the Circle and H&C will be short of trains.

Pre-made sets of points incorrectly installed and failing to operate when tested. Care to elaborate? Well, as decaded hasn't decided to elaborate I probably should set the record straight. The points were not incorrectly installed, nor did they fail to operate on test. However, an element of the programme ran late, without enough time to fully test the alterations to the signalling. As there was insufficient time to test the points (and some of the other alterations), they had to be secured normal until they could be tested, which took place over the following three nights. When they were tested they operated correctly. Why do I know this? Because I was there. In fact, I was the Tester in Charge, and I was the one who made the decision to secure the points out of use and run the split service for two days.
