As posted on the 'Success' thread elsewhere, I've been lucky enough to have been offered a T/Ops role for the Night Tube. However, as a training slot is now looking some time away (in the new year), I was wondering if there was any available training material that I could start to familiarise myself with during the long wait?
Thanks

I know you want to get a head start but it will usually cause confusion as different people will tell you varying things.
One thing I can recommend is just get out and about and experience the tube as a passenger, learn the map and the geography of London.

Thanks all - and I certainly wouldn't want or ask for anyone to provide privileged / restricted information, only links to published documentation if available (and appropriate).
I'm a long time tube user, so have good experience of the lines in the center and to the west, but I will make the effort to travel to some of the areas to the north and east past in zone 3 and beyond (which have always seemed a world away in the past!)
I'm not sure what was meant by the ballot though?

I think he means that its a bit of a lucky dip as to where you are allocated a drivers job. You may live in Ealing but are offered a place in say, Barking. There is no guarantee that you will work on your doorstep. Have a look at District Daves website. It may answer a few of your questions. www.districtdave.co.uk/html/train_staff.html

You will be taught everything you need to know on the course itself. Any 'required reading' will be communicated to you in advance of your start date. Getting to grips with the Tube network is always useful, but obviously as a drive you don't need to be at savvy when it comes to things like fares and tickets etc. However, I would encourage you to get out and about on the Night Tube network to see for yourself the type of stuff you'll be dealing with 'on the job'. Don't get too engrossed in individual lines or stocks as you won't find this information out until your training, and as mentioned you may not be at the depot closest to where you live. You'll find many good resources both here on the District Dave website and forum as well as a few other Internet sites - www.squarewheels.org.uk/rly/#LU springs immediately to mind. The forum in particular has many knowledgeable current or former members of LU staff, and many topics have been covered. We're a friendly bunch, so do ask away. Congratulations again on the offer!
