Does location B happen to be between Edgware and Burnt Oak? I think I'm recognising the building on the very left

We've hit the halfway mark as far as locations go. Answer: Location A: Between Brentwood and Shenfield - view west from Woodway road bridge [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Between Burnt Oak and Edgware - view north from Deansbrook Road [Chris M] (click for a larger version)

Royal Oak for D? And the odd one out being A, which mentions wood but not specifically oak?

Location C: Between Cockfosters and Oakwood - view from Trent Park woodland [Chris M] (click for a larger version) D is not Royal Oak, does this version help? (click for a larger version) A is the odd one out, but not because of its name.

It is, but that's correlated to the reason we're looking for rather than the reason itself.

D must be in the Gospel Oak area.

A is indeed the only one not on Lu, and that is the reason on the card.
You can get further away from D than Gospel Oak, but it's not somewhere most Londoners would describe as the Gospel Oak area.

I'll give you that as it is a viaduct photographed from Wells Road in/near Shepherd's Bush Location D: Between Goldhawk Road and Hammermsith (H&C) - view south from Wells Road [Chris M] (click for a larger version)

The building on the left is part of 'S' garage
