This afternoon I observed a very sick train in the platform at Hainault. The platform had been cordoned off, the train was without power (including emergency lights) and the rear calling on light was illuminated.
Several random side doors were opened towards the front of the train (not just the butterfly valve ones), there were a group of 'senior' looking LU staff assembled midway up the train next to a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher!
On my way home, there was a LU staff member with a 'bronze control' jacket on re-cordoning off the platform.

Ah, that would explain it. "A well looked after battery will always have a long life" - not in this case it didn't!
The line was advertised as running a good service all evening - losing platform 3 at Hainault didn't seem to have a major impact on the service.

The line was advertised as running a good service all evening - losing platform 3 at Hainault didn't seem to have a major impact on the service. Train was eventually moved at 18.25 and platform 3 remained out-of-commission for the rest of the day, due to damage to edge and ramp.
