To commemorate the 70th anniversary of White City station there is an open day tomorrow Sunday 2nd April. There will be photos of the station in the past and the opportunity to sit in the cab of a 1992 stock train.

Do you know the start time of this? If it's early enough I can do this and get to the finish of the boat race.

1000-1600, tours of the station and a display of images through the years. There's also cake.
The loco(s?) at Ruislip were nothing to do with this - likely they were connected with the ongoing S stock transfers for ATC fitment. The only train present should be a '92TS, usual caveats.

Been a while since stabling there, Siddons et al still there?

I passed West Ruislip on Thursday; there was a maroon class 20 outside one of the sheds. I would have replied earlier but I didn't recognise WER.

Wish I had known earlier... its probably too late to change a day that has already been planned.

This was actually a very nice day and my thanks to hobbayne for telling us about it or I never would have known. I had a bit of a belly ache this morning so I didn't get to White City until about 14:55 - just in time for the last tour. The lady who gave it was very enthusiastic, spoke well and clearly enough to be heard over passing traffic and was very knowledgeable. To my shame I've never really looked around White City so it was nice to have someone point out some of the architectural features of the station building - inside and out - and the platforms. I never actually got to go in a train cab, but my tour did take in the DTSM's office instead, which I was even more pleased about, because we were able to have a look at the Emergency Local Control Panel (ELCP) which I never thought I would get to see. One can catch a glimpse of Loughton's from the passenger area, but to be able to go right up to White City's and have a good look was a bit of a treat for me. At the end a nice gentleman took us through some of the challenges of producing timetables and this kind of thing. I stayed behind for a little bit more about the ELCP though so I missed the start of that unfortunately

Unfortunately something came up this morning for me which meant I didn't get to White City until about 3:40, well too late to make the last tour. Real shame to have missed it.
