Produced by British Transport Films for the London Transport Executive this film must date from between 1949 and 1962, I suspect towards the early part of that era, and shows some different practices towards safety than apply today.

Will have a deco at the car regs later, but suspect you are right re the date.
Looking at the Tube map @ 1:04-South Acton Branch is clearly marked, so unlikely to be 1959-1962!

The only vehicle registration I could make out was LXT --- (on the Austin Devon at about 0:30) - issued in London in 1951, so it must be later than that.

The RT/RTLs at the start have white upper deck window surrounds. They stopped painting new ones in this style ~1950, but some may have been running a little later before repainting.

LXT was issued between Feb-October 1951, I think the number part begins with 8. More importantly-note no 'under construction' Bakerloo extension to Camberwell-and that came off the Tube Maps in 1951, whereas the GNCR subsumation into part of the Northern Line was not officially scotched until 1954. And, in the admittedly-brief shots of busy London streets complete with occasional summer-blouse wearing young ladies, not a trace of a tram, nor the associated wires, poles etc. And we all know they ended in 1952, with very swift removal of any trace from the face of the Earth. So I'll hazard a guess at the summer of 1953.

I checked out the BFI website, and under 'Rayant Pictures' it gives the date as 1951

Even if the film had been made in 1931, when the tram network was at its most extensive, you would not have seen a tram at the Bank of England junction, where all the street scenes (bar the one with the aforementioned Austin) seem to have been shot. (The City of London never let tramways be built within the Square Mile)

according to that BFI website page - there is a release of a compilation DVD by Fastline Films which has Safety on the Tracks as one of its items and it's listed as 1951: MECHANICAL SIGNALLING AND LEVEL CROSSINGS (FF01)
