I thought the middle 'panel' in the front cab end of a 378 was a door? Same as in LUL surface stock?
My personal opinion on the liveries is that it would have made sense for TfL to apply the general arrangement of the established tube livery on all of its fleets, LUL, DLR, Overground, Crossrail, with the red being substituted with the modes' house colour. Its good to see this happening with the Overground fleet (even if that ridiculous tapered bit of white is an obvious aesthetic mistake and will rapidly become a dirt magnet), but Crossrail not matching is a missed opportunity.

That is exactly the same system as employed on the Hong Kong (MTR) Mass Transit Railway Metro System - It's one of the best de-trainment systems that I have seen, probably brought over to London with the help of the (MTR) original operator of the Overground network in 2007. I hope that such a system gets deployed on the New Tube for London's Trains.

Can you pass between two cabs marshalled together? If the steps are on the back of the door, this may be inconvenient!

I think it unlikely that London Overground would ever find it necessary to operate two Class 378s together in a 10-car formation and some of the platforms might not be able to accommodate them

We can operate a 10 car but in emergency situations only as most of our platforms on the NLL are only 5 car in length. Also behind the front door are the steps & they are a bit tricky to remove out of the way so passengers can be transferred from one train to another.

There is also a footplate that can be placed down that goes over the couplers, which creates less of a gap between trains, this is for emergency use only. Also if you were detraining from cab end to cab end, you'd have to make sure you had a Bombardier fitter on board, as they'd need to be able to wind the doors in!
