Why does the turnout in RH foreground look as if it is set between roads?

Why does the turnout in RH foreground look as if it is set between roads? Possibly a set of 'spring toggle' points, which we still have in use in a few locations on the combine today. They are only used for trailing moves (ie they will be set by the wheels passing over them).

They're wide to gauge points - there is a mechanism for each switch rail (as indicated by the two sets of walkboards).
I'm going to hazard a guess at West Hampstead.

They're wide to gauge points - there is a mechanism for each switch rail (as indicated by the two sets of walkboards). I'm going to hazard a guess at West Hampstead. Yes, looking towards West Hampstead from the south.
