What are opinions on the most horrible stations? For me personally Elephant and Castle and Embankment (I hate the very small passageways there) spring to mind.

Tottenham Court Road. The ticket hall is cramped, the subways stink of p*** and the crowds using the narrow stairs make it quite uncomfortable.
Baker Street. The extra exit needs to be open all the time, as fighting your way through the crowds on the SSL footbridge to get to the Inner Rail is _not_ fun.
Covent Garden. They need to evict the bureau de change as rapidly as possible!

Charing Cross - smell and apperance
Covent Garden desperately needs enlargement to cope with needs of passengers, however it seems the LU option is to tell people to use Leicester Sq (which is a good short term solution but not a permanent fix!)

Waterloo (Bakerloo Line Side) always seems to smell of spilt milk or vomit (I can't work out which).

Elm Park, Dagenham East, Dagenham Heathway and Becontree ;D ;D When you eventually get a transfer to Upminster seeing them a couple more times a day will be a highlight

Yep, Old Street and Hanger Lane gets my vote, bacause the subways always smell of bodily fluids, or exhaust fumes. When you leave either of these stations, you should be issued with a gas mask upon passing through the ticket barrier!

Oh Stepney Green gets my vote. No matter how much they tart it up or prettify it it always seems to be dark, damp and dismal. In the days of tungsten lights it was positively sinister.

Ladbroke Grove and Dagenham East because they were the only two stations I've feared for my safety while working late at night.

Camden Town. Small and too busy. Only one escalator going up most of the time.

I'd say Oxford Circus - looks terrible, small platform (or seemed it)....
Oddly enough, i like the smell at Mile End..... disenfectanty.... remember it every time i pass there, due to countless visits to the Royal London Hosp.

Bank. Long f***in' walk from Central to Docklands. At least if you go from the DLR to the W&C you get to walk through part of a Greathead shield

Bank. Long f***in' walk from Central to Docklands. Its also a long walk from the Bakerloo to the Central at Oxford Circus. It would have been easier on my legs if I'd taken a Circle from Paddington to Tower Hill and walked to Tower Gateway! Chris

Shadwell is a horrid station, smelly lifts and clastrophobic platforms.
Nice trains though

Stepney Green - ****hole Character my friend, it's what you call character... alright, it's a pit, but it has a fairly unique charm in the days of metal hoardings to cover leaking brickwork... Notting Hill Gate (especially the Central platforms) always seems like a bit of a hole to me whenever I'm passing through.

Im sorry about the expression I used but I remember Stepney before they modified it, not the 1980s modification but even before that in the seventies and it was a dark scary hole.
