I have been told that just before reaching Mill Hill East there was once (1955 or so) a siding (on the north side) ''for military use''. The nearby barracks were for the 'girls' of the A.T.S., so what was the siding used for? Electrified??

Inglis Barracks Mill Hill was the depot for the Middlesex Regiment until they were disbanded in 1966. There was also a REME workshop there from the 1940s so perhaps vehicles could have been unloaded in the siding there. In the 1960s the camp became the main military postal and courier depot. There were new blocks built for the WRAC (successors to the ATS) personnel when the postal HQ moved there. The barracks was closed about ten years ago and subsequently demolished and replaced by housing.
