Superb picture, thanks.
None of this old SDO nonsense back then!

Came across this earlier, thought people here would appreciate it... Smashing picture rincew1nd and also in the Tweet itself, a level of pedantry displayed that I and several others would be proud of on here! "@greatestcapital It is not a tube station, it is cut & cover so it is an Underground station! #pedant"

TBH I half expected someone to say it's not Euston Sq but somewhere else, rather than that!

And can you imagine the number of years the line and station would be closed, taking the Goblin example?

There looks to be a signal ahead of No18, presumably it's now been moved or that's about where the headwall is now?

So both LUL and the enthusiast following have abandoned the distinction between tube railways and other types? I didn't know that. When did it happen? Do we have 'train stations' yet?

It's sad to see the demise of the distinction, but it is one of those where (generally) no confusion arises if you refer to an SSL line as a 'tube' line. If, on the other hand, you said you were going to travel from a train or railway station, any Londoner will assume you mean NR, or, possibly, LO. In a similar vein, a friend (who lives in Cornwall), was telling us about a journey from Glasgow to Penzance, and kept referring to The (London) Underground as 'the subway' or 'the metro', which was extremely confusing as it sounded as if she was talking about underpasses or the Glasgow underground.

It's hard to work out if that's looking east or west! So much has changed there. I presume it's looking westward towards the Tottenham Court Road junction.

Looking west I think. Both trains have stopped at the original platform, the platforms were extended towards Kings Cross. The sun is shining from the left which would be the south.

Looking closely, is that a temporary narrow-gauge railway on the left?

Looking closely, is that a temporary narrow-gauge railway on the left? Guess it could be, because taking that amount of soil & debris away through the streets would have caused immense disruption to traffic in that area, even in 1930, so might have been a sensible option. The track thereof looks a bit industrial and temporary, too.

At first glance I thought it was some kind of barrow, but then I had another look - which is why I asked the question!

I think it's basically for spoil trucks, probably coming up to ground level at Euston Gardens and Friendship Garden.
