I see this afternoon (Saturday) the TFL website is showing, "Minor delays due to a shortage of trains."
Surely this isn't for the same reason (flats) as the Piccadilly? Hopefully if that is the case it doesn't deteriorate in the same manner. All very embarrassing for LUL, especially in the public's eye to whom everything is black and white!

A number of Central trains are out of service at the moment for remedial work and resources are stretched to the point where a reduced timetable is in operation.
The line runs through some very leafy areas and there 2 trains which are equipped to try and prevent rail adhesion problems.
Even so some wheel flats are inevitable and require attention.

Trouble is, there's hardly any trees left beside the line to produce all the leaves, as they've all been cut down or heavily pruned. East of Buckhurst Hill it's been bare all Autumn. For 3 yrs now, we've seen the trees being steadily thinned out, cut down to their stumps and routed out, some pruned by up to 2/3rds. Between Debden - Theydon it's like the apocalypse.

Drainrat, quite agree. Epping Forest Dc has one of the best arboricultural teams in the UK, including an international expert, but they are powerless to stop LU's current massacre policy. Of course, leaves blow in from all the leafy areas around; it's not the lineside ones that give rise to the trouble The answer, surely, is to run the adhesion trains more often.

Between Debden - Epping, there is very little else around other than hay, to blow onto the track 😉 In the days I've been on the main, I seem to be held up both ends of the line by the RAT

I travelled into central London earlier today and there were announcements about gaps in service due to a shortage of trains but oddly enough, the service indicator said there was a good service. From Ealing, there were definitely gaps.
