A while back, East Acton on the Central Line was closed for some reason or other and the driver made an announcement that the next stop would be North Acton. This got me thinking that there is no direct bus service from North to East Acton unless they catch the 95 down the A40. It would be a fair old trek to walk it as well. Via Old Oak Common Lane for instance. I guess there are quite a few stations either side of each other that are difficult to reach in these cases.

Why run a bus service when there is a rail service?

Why run a bus service when there is a rail service? Because bus stops are closer together than Tube stations. How does someone living halfway between the stations get to either of them? Although you might be better advised to continue to Hanger Lane and get the 95 back from there if you want a shorter walk (depends on what traffic is like on the Western Avenue though)

I believe Fairlop to Hainault although only one stop, is tricky to get to if the central line is out.

North Greenwich has no direct bus service to either Canning Town or Canary Wharf. The Dangleway can, for a premium fare, get you to sort of near Royal Victoria for the DLR (or buses?) to Canning Town if it's not too windy, there are no tall ships, it's not too early or too late and it's not it's annual maintenance week. Other than that it's the 108 to Stratford and then the DLR back down (or alight at the north end of the tunnel and get a bus or walk to the DLR from there). When Crossrail arrives, you could change at Canary Wharf (a long and very busy walk) and Custom House, but that probably wont be quicker.
For Canary Wharf you can, again for a premium fare, take a boat to the far side of Canary Wharf or change at Greenwich for the DLR to Cutty Sark (about the same walking). Alternatively you can get a bus to Greenwich station for the DLR.
For Canary Wharf to Canada Water you can take the 135 bus to Watney Market which is a short walk from Shadwell Overground. Alternatively you can catch the Hilton Ferry (for a premium fare) and then a bus. When the Overground is suspended between Wapping and Rotherhithe, you can get the D3 and travel via Canary Wharf or the 100 to the City and from there to London Bridge for the Jubilee Line. Alternatively the bus legs of the journey can be done by DLR from Shadwell.
King George V to Woolwich Arsenal is not possible by direct bus, but you can walk (~10 minutes at each end) and take the Woolwich Ferry if it's running. In a couple of years Crossrail from Custom House will be available as an alternative too.
Island Gardens to Cutty Sark requires walking through the Greenwich foot tunnel or catching the ferry from Masthouse Terrace pier (D7 from Island Gardens to Harbinger School if you don't want to walk all the way) to Greenwich pier (usual ferry fares apply).
Are there any direct buses from Bank to London Bridge during the Tower Bridge works?

I think that getting back to Moor Park from Rickmansworth would be the most difficult. Bus to Croxley then 45 minute walk according to Traveline.

Are there any direct buses between Bank and London Bridge during the Tower Bridge works? Why would there not be? 21, 43, 133, 141. If you use the exit at Monument, also the 17, 35, 40, 47, 48, 149, 521, 344 (northbound only), and, during the closure of Tower Bridge, also the 78 and RV1)
