Something I've been meaning to ask about for a while. I notice on the Central line, there are a number of little red lights (I think they're red when they illuminate) which are not normally lit and appear to be for use in emergencies. One of the most obvious examples is at Marble Arch westbound, just in rear of the siding: Can anybody tell me what they're for?

I note that the plates under the aspects have 'straight ahead' and 'right' arrow indications. Is there some form of key protection on the siding to protect a train/op walking to/from a stabled train? Aren't RGIs three in a triangle? Edit to add, yes they are: (From Dave's site)

Aren't RGIs three in a triangle? They are indeed, picture. That being said, the idea that the Central line uses some kind of variant indicator is not a bad one, but I happen to know the Central's RGI's are the same as everywhere else's. Key Protection is an excellent idea, although I have the feeling I've seen them on Video125's DEV in places where Key Protection Switches seem to make less immediate sense, but that's not to rule it out - not least because I'd have to watch the video again and note where else they appear.

I have no idea about the Central Line signalling but it is a red lens so my only thinking is a key protection signal.
On normal conventional signalling the key protection switch relay is cut into the signal selections so puts all signals to danger it controls straight away.
Any idea what the ID plate states underneath ??

Nothing to do signalling.
It's for traction current section switches, so if a section switch is operated and traction turned off then they will light up. So for Marble Arch, you can isolate the siding from the mainline or if the mainline was knackered you could isolate that and still use the siding.
There is a traditional rail gap indicator just before these lights by the station starting signal.
