What is the role of ground mounted position light signal GB53 at Richmond?
I'm well used to shunt signals on the lines out of Network Rail termini, installed primarily, I believe, for shunting locos around, but perhaps also useful to moving the odd train from platform to platform.
But what strikes me as odd about GB53 is that it doesn't have a theatre route indicator, which implies only one route is available from it. Which route is this and what purpose does it serve at Richmond station?

National Rail position light signal rarely have route indicators, GB53 would allow movement into any platform under the signallers instructions. Similarly, GB51 at Gunnersbury - which platform will you go into? = clear understanding with the signaller.
