How can trains be reversed at Canary Wharf, and what's the best service that can be achieved if doing such a move?

Scissors crossover to the west of the station, so it's a pretty good service you can manage.

Except where there's massive amount of people waiting for a westbound; and a completely loaded train arrives eastbound at westbound platform needing to wade through the platform....

The Jubilee line twitter feed says it was due to "absence of staff" but it's reopened again now. There was no mention of any problems at North Greenwich while I was at Canary Wharf (heading west) early afternoon.

At present trains are non stopping at NG due to damage I'm assuming. As the post below suggests, NG was closed briefly last night because of a staffing issue. They closed a couple of minutes after my train departed and were open again by the time I got up to Wembley Park |

The Daily Mail has reported that it was a viable IED. Mind you they also reported that the eastbound service was heading towards London landmarks like The Shard and Westminster.

A bit premature maybe! We have had periods of heightened security many times in the past. Without going to politics, I do not know if we ever saw such levels of heightened security before 7/7. This could affect the community because if enthusiasts end up in the wrong side too often then other cities stand to gain from London’s excessive paranoia. |

Or they could see the benefit in enthusiasts acting as extra eyes who would likely notice if people are acting suspiciously or if something is amiss. In an era when near-invisible shirt button cameras and eyeglasses / pens / keyfobs with embedded cameras exist, a ban on trainspotting (with or without cameras) will not deter those with ill-intent. Any behavior that intentionally rejects our role as enthusiasts, recorders, intelligence gatherers, of what happens on the LU system, would represent a naive, outragous, immature and grimly silly response. There are numerous times when I have approached TfL/LU staff about characters behaving as they should not (passengers stuck on a train at Barking sidings), (smoking weed @ Hornchurch - when I was prepared to pull the lever on a train).... I could go on. If TfL/LU wishes us, a huge ally (the enthusiast community), to disengage, IMO they would be outragously stupid to block us from recording what is happening on the railway... After all, how can anyone record suspicious behaviour, if we're banned from recording in the first place !!!  As someone with a monthly column in one of many railway magazines available at all good newsagents, I would shout very loudly if enthusiasts (that followed the rules) were told by TfL officially (not just by uninformed station staff) that photography on LU was now banned on security grounds !! |
