Hi
Today I went on a Hidden London Euston station tour. At the very end of the tour the guide said that there is a new tour coming next year but wouldn't give any details.
Does anyone know anything about that that they feel they can share?
Thanks
Alex

My guide last weekend gave me some clues and answered some questions I put to them; from that I have a suspicion of what is planned. I don't know for sure, so it's not fair for me to say my thoughts - however my guide did say "Northern Line, north of the river". I'm sure number35 or someone similar will confirm, as soon as they are able to.

Quite possibly city road or south Kentish Town. I've always wanted to go down south Kentish Town! Sometimes tempting to stop the train to have a look lol (not that I'd ever do that!)

I've heard a rumour (nothing more!) that Highgate (high level) is being considered.
Oh, and City Road is highly unlikely due to engineering work taking place there - capturing heat from the tunnels for the local district heating system.

I did the Euston tour last week too. Did Down Street a few weeks back too. Waiting for Aldwych to reopen now.

Id like to see Highgate high level and the abandoned tunnel at the south end of Highgate sidings, apparently its populated by a rare breed of bat?

What I'd really like to do is the Royal Mail postal trains and tunnels. Would love to have a go on one of the trains.

Hi To those who guessed Highgate high level in the "new tour speepstake" - well done. It adds some interesting extra story lines to Hidden London which are not covered on other tours. Like 55 Broadway it also gives the more claustrophobic Hidden London fan a chance to enjoy the programme. The tunnels either side are heavily protected as they are home to several species of bat. We won't be entering the tunnels as disturbing the bats increases their mortality rate but we will be covering the conservation aspects of the site in the narrative. The tours are in the summer months as that's when we feel the site is at its best. There are still places available if you want to see it for yourself. For those longing for tours of City Road and South Kentish Town - I share your interest but they are both tricky sitesfrom the point of view of public tours for all the reasons other members have aired. Also we try to pick sites which add new storylines to our existing tours - these two sites would somewhat duplicate storylines we already tell elsewhere. This reasoning may help if you are keen to speculate where we might pick next!

Interesting nonetheless, however South Kentish Town isn't actually massively different to a station like Chalk Farm or Belsize Park, plus the conversion of the surface building to shop means there's little to explore at street or basement level. Places like City Road or King William Street are more interesting to visit as there are not so many locations where one can explore a very early Tube station as it would have been. I imagine British Museum would also have offered similar until the surface building and lift shafts disappeared. LU has in the past done visits to City Road on open house weekends, although sadly things have changed at street level recently. For something a little different, how about visits to the experimental Fleet Line tunnel at New Cross. I suggest this in jest as the logistics of such a visit would be extremely prohibitive, unfortunately.
