On Monday night I made a journey on LU that I wasn't planning on. On Tuesday morning this necessitated I make another journey on the underground. As the crow flies the first journey was longer than the second but the second one more complicated
Journey 1
Journey 2:
Journey 1
- I started at a station (A) adjacent to one that is currently closed
- The train stopped at three stations (B, C, D) in more than one zone, but I did not alight at any of them
- I did alight at a station (E) with a curved platform and interchanged to a different line
- This interchange wa\s not cross-platform
- Because I took the first train at station E I had to change trains at a station (F) in two zones to reach my destination
- My destination station (G) is in the same zone that I started from. It is closer to the end of the line than it used to be.
- When I was in London for the weekend last month, trains for station H were terminating at station I, one stop before G, because of engineering works.
Journey 2:
- My origin station (J) was not the same as my destination station last night, but is on the same line
- Station J gave me a choice of two trains on adjacent plafforms going in the correct direction for my journey
- I alighted at station K, which was earlier than the journey planner reccomended for my journey (either L or M)
- My interchange to another line necessitated me going through one line of ticket barriers, but other changes at this station (K) would not have required this.
- I did not alight at the first stop on this train (N), but doing so would allow an interchange with two other LU lines.
- I did not alight at a station in two zones (O) or one (P) that would allow an alternative route to station K.
- I did interchange at a station (Q) newer than the line I interchanged to.
- I got the first train that came and alighted (at station R) when it terminated before the last station on the line (S), as the next one would also have done.
- I interchanged to a SSL train, and interchanged again at the next station (T), although I could have waited at station R.
- I alighted at a station with at least 6 platforms (U) after the longest time on a train that day.
- The first train from station U was headed to station V, which is one stop short of station T, I did not take this train.
- The second train terminated at station W, which has three words in its name.
- I took the third train to my destination station (X) and interchanged to national rail services. My single journey ticket was not swallowed by the barrier machine.
Can you figure out all the stations and what lines I used between them?
Why did I make these journeys when I wasn't planning on doing so? *I'll be impressed if you actually guess this correctly)
