they are all very very good, but I voted for HIGNFY simply because its simple format has kept it fresh and popular for over 15 years now.

Why aren't "Yes Minister" or "M*A*S*H" listed? They're the only intelligent comedies on the box!!

Does The Simpson's count? Thats brilliant.
But HIGNFY is also brilliant. Only Fools and Horses is a classic. Fawlty Towers is great. My Family is good. Little Britain has it's moments - they're all too good!

Which comedies you like reflect your personnal life. (Apparantly) E.g. Red Dwarf is fairly popular, but not hugely popular because few of us have been living in space, The Simpsons is probably the most successful comedies of all time because we can relate to them. They're a working family who have their differences but tend to come out OK. Only Fools and Horses is popular because it's about working class Londoners.
Here's an intresting fact about Red Dwarf: When the preview tapes were sent to the BBC, they didn't like them. The pilot was unsuccessful and it was to be scrapped. However, the commissioner at the time was about to be sacked, so he commissioned a couple of series to spite the BBC. However, it caught on (eventually) and a film is due out soon. (Using different actors, unfortunantly)

Am I allowed to nominate "The Bill"? The way the plots have been going, you can't take it seriously.....

I'm offended that look around you and monkey dust didn't get a mention, along with the day today and Brass Eye, Big Train amoung many others.
Or maybe that's just my alternative view on comedy, all great stuff though, if you like modern bizarre and quick moving comedy!

Open All Hours was filmed not to far away from here (Hexthorpe)... it and Dead Ringers would be my television favourites.
What about ISIHAC?
