I have no idea, but i'm intrigued. As a driver, I would only pass a red with the trainstop lowering if it was a shunt signal clearing. Am I warm or stone cold.

I know too, and it's a little over twelve hours after Colin.
Now, are we going to get in the game of everyone letting everyone else have a chance?

Yes please! I like to see if some of our younger members can work it out. (No cheating lads)

Aw shucks. 'Course, it might have been a lot earlier than the 1960s...
1932! Yes, I reckon that's about it.
Russ
(who of course is itching to know the full monty, and predicts that all will be revealed in the next, hmmm, shall we say 24 hours, despite Q8's desire to keep us all dangling for as long as possible)
P.S. Since we're in quiz mode - here's one: when was the last semaphore on the system replaced and what was its location? Bonus points for getting the signal number correct as well!

Bonus points for getting the signal number correct as well! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1951 - Hanger Lane Junction - WM 20/21 DD's (and others) favourite picnic signal If it wasn't that one it was either Whitechapel or North Weald. By the way you ARE referring to purely underground lines and not NR lines that underground trains run over aren't you? If it is the latter case it will be the Richmond or Wimbledon area..

Can I have a wild stab?
Is it something to do with the old LMS signalling?
Route clear for right hand track? Im stumped as to what the white lights are.

I'd say it's the signalling of the suburban lines from Euston.

23 November 1953 according to the LT Museum, Q8, but I think we'll have to give you that one! It was indeed the infamous Hanger Lane Junction signal.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Looking at the LT Museum pic (ref U55630 is the best one), the interesting thing is that the stick is pointing the other way to what it is now.
No wonder some drivers could get confused.....
