Really very off topic for London but I suspect some forum members will find this upcoming programme of interest. NHK, Japan's main broadcaster, shows a regular set of English language shows about Japanese railways amongst many other things. An upcoming episode of Japan ailway Journal will feature the famous Yamanote orbital railway in Tokyo. The new rolling stock, which famously conked out on its first day in service to enormous embarrassment, will be highlighted but I doubt the breakdown will be!! www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/japanrailway/201608170600/It's on 1st September but accessible via the NHK website (search for NHK World) for about a week after.

Fascinating to see from the first picture on the link front page that the linear garden on the Yamanote line is at least as bad as Network Rail's

I've no recollection of between the tracks "station gardens" anywhere on the Tokyo rail system when I used it. As you'd expect it was pretty spotless! Heck they employ people to regularly scrape chewing gum off the steps in stations - they'd not allow a rogue plant to appear on the main running lines!
