In the latest edition of RAIL (805), it is reported that AFC Wimbledon are trying to fund a new station near their new Plough Lane stadium. Whilst I am normally in favour of new stations, this is a rare exception. The area is already well served by Haydon's Road and Wimbledon Park stations so why does it need another?

What kind of station are we talking about? National Rail, Trams? Additionally, Haydon's road is hardly fit for capacity. Relatively Low frequency service (2tph each direction - it feels odd to describe that as low!) and pretty poor facilities. If AFC Wimbledon are thinking long term and a return to higher flights of football, it's only sensible to look into a station better suited to match day crowds.
