I hope I'll not be considered frivolous for saying: "lucky them". The story is hereNice to see that everyone spoken to praised the LU staff involved.

Apparently, the E/B + rail was ripped out about 6pm last night. Possibly by a low shoe.

Interesting that the incident is reported as having happened at 18.00 on Wednesday!!! Either very slow reporting or clairvoyance.

Why has this never happened on any train I've been on? I am jealous, I'd love a tunnel walk! It does look like staff did a wonderful job keeping everyone cheerful and safe.

It's always a last resort tbh walking passengers out a tunnel is not an easy task to organise it is the last resort anyone will have a decision to make on. You need to have all resources in place etc etc As the possibly found out it was not going to be possible to move the train any time soon they had no option but to detrain via track. Other options are to bring a train to the front or rear empty of passengers and transfer people on to another train and work back or forward a station Well done to all staff involved a

The video was absolutely delightful. A situation that could have been cold and miserable for hundreds of people was handled with such high spirits. If the trains and the history and the large civil infrastructure works weren't enough to make the Tube so fascinating for us, amazing staff justs adds the icing on the cake.
It's also interesting that the focus was on how easy evacuating people was rather than the failure that caused it in the first place

It's also interesting that the focus was on how easy evacuating people was rather than the failure that caused it in the first place Yet, there could of been greater focus on how 'easy' it was to evacuate people with the vital staff that were present.I had just watched the footage on the BBC News at 18:30 and there was absolutely no mention of how important the Train Operator and Station Staff's role was in this situation. This incident highlights the importance of staff and how imposing cuts and introducing DTO is only a step in the wrong direction.

In one of the videos, the train in Shepherd's Bush appeared to have a staircase, rather then a ramp, leading from the tract into the train.
I always thought that the 92ts had a ramp that needed to be put down by the driver, in order to use the front cab to evacuate (or in this case board) the train.
Was this updated into a staircase at some point?

All stocks have some sort of system of steps to leave through the front "m" door. Its the only safe way to evacuate. A ramp would have to be far too steep to be safe and fit in the small comfines of the m door.

I'm sure that the 92ts originally had a ramp (see photo on front page of this report) Derailment of a London Underground Central Line train near Mile End station 5 July 2007I just wondered if the design had been changed to steps at some point

I'm sure that the 92ts originally had a ramp (see photo on front page of this report) The picture is a bit inclear, but para 83 of that report describes evacuation using a ramp, not steps.
