Friday night 2345ish, I arrived at Baker Street from Aldgate on Circle Line to avail of the facilities :-)
Chesham train should arrive on platform 2 in approx 4 mins.
Platform 3 occupied by a train showing Moorgate .
Aldgate train arrives from the north, wrong road into platform 2 and subsequently leaves from there towards the city.
Moorgate train then leaves towards the city.
Chesham train arrives from city and we're back to normality.
What was going on that lead to this happening because I've never seen anything like that before?

The train on platform 3 had movement problems so the aldgate service was diverted via platform 2, it is not a common move but not unheard of
Platform 2 does not have CCTV for the driver to monitor the platform so assisted dispatch from station staff is required.

Haven't they removed the northbound starter also as I seem to recall a fixed red light at the north end

Haven't they removed the northbound starter also as I seem to recall a fixed red light at the north end Yes, no longer possible to go north straight off of platform 3, although of course a mainline shunt move into platform 2 is available, and obviously all three of the other Met platforms can be reached from Finchley Road. Southbound starter to go south directly off of platform 2 (MB15) is still present and correct however. |

I can verfy this as I ran up the stairs having alighted from the Bakerloo and ended up in Gt Portland Street as opposed to Finchley as expected! I was starting to wonder just how much wine I had drunk  |

Apparently so, yes. They only modified the track layout there around 2010, didn't they? And now it's changing again. |
