How is crossrail be different from the underground in general including the power supply and signals?

25 kV AC overhead power supply rather than 630V DC third/fourth rail. "Mainline" gauge stock, whatever that means, rather than 'S' stock profile. Can't speak regarding the signalling - that one's way over my head... THC

actually, having worked that out, that's only compared with the smallest tube tunnels. Compared with the JLE, there will be half as much stuff again (due to the increase of just over a metre in diameter) (150%) per unit length of tunnel to remove. It's still a lot more, due to having big trains, and all the stuff like walkways and OHLE.
