What a waste of time and money! It's so similar - what is the point?

This is quite a nice article on what might otherwise be indistinguishable changes to the font. Nice that the 'idiosyncracies' are being retained rather than go down a more generic route.
Considering what the OED Word of the Year for 2015 was, we should be grateful that there isn't now an official TfL roundel-emoji!

"TfL doesn't make a profit because we reinvest all our income to run and improve your services."
No, they don't make a profit as they keep squandering their money on rubbish like this! A claim for the Advertising Standard Authority maybe?

Personally I think the Garden Bridge provides a bigger issue with that claim

What a waste of time and money! It's so similar - what is the point? This article in London Reconnections explains all. Indeed point is part of the point - a wider range of font "point" sizes is needed now to be readable on things like Smartphones. Another factor is the difference between creating the characters on blocks of wood for printing, and creating them from pixels. Yet another is the desire to revert from some of the compromises made in "New" Johnston (for good reasons at the time related to current technology) and the need for cgaracters like # and @
