can anyone tell me if the LUL engineers wagons generally operate on their allotted line? or are they universal?...incidentally, The works vehicles noted at the south end of Farringdon last Wednesday (20th April) were 235,254,256,258,262,269,281 and one 2?6 UID .Along with 921 and JLE19.
Are there any other (viewable) Engineers stabling points on the system ? I used to deliver lighting equipment to the Stratford market? site in the mid 90's for the scheduled engineers trains on the (then) new Jubilee extension. I made a note of the shunters (all with girls names) But despite having made numerous visits I still didn't see all of them. Are they STILL in use on the system? thanks.

A lot of engineering plant stabled in Ruislip Depot is visible from the Central Line between Ruislip Gardens and West Ruislip.

General Purpose (GP) Wagons have full route availabilty and most engineer's wagons, plant and machinery will if at all possible. Obvious exceptions that come to mind are the new Tamping Machine, new Concrete mixer wagon and some of the Rail Grinding machines that have been used over the years
Lille Bridge depot used to be a good place to view engineers trains from the A4 West Cromwell Road bridge but they have all moved to Ruislip now and you can only see District Line passenger stock.

There's usually a line up of Hopper Wagons visible adjacent to Ruislip siding as you pass by on a Met or Picc.

The Schoma diesels I think you're referring to are still in use – I can't remember the loco numbers, but I certainly remember seeing at least two of them in use and moving through the City around the time or not long after the KX shutdown and they reside at Ruislip Depot. I'm sure somebody here can fill in the gaps.

I think all but four of the Schomas have been converted to battery electric - one has been approved for operation around Ruislip Depot only and a second is imminently going to be approved ready for maintainer and driver training to begin.
1 and 12 should be the last ones converted due to the additional work around the wedgelock couplers fitted for moving 95TS and 96TS.

Dan
