Another video by Dennis Bostock. Lots of 1962 stock and great footage of Blake Hall which was to close later that year

Not surprised he filmed it. Caught a very rare event there! Yes, somewhere around 22 mins-an actual passenger used Blake Hall. Seriously, brings back memories & most interesting film.

As a matter of interest when Epping-Ongar closed how many passengers were using the stn each day? Remember that Blake Hall closed in 1981, 13 years before the rest of Epping to Ongar. I have heard a figure of 6 passengers a day from Blake Hall. Here's another one from Dennis. A couple of things to note: 1. Another passenger! 2. A poster informing passengers of the then new D stock trains on the District and the need to press buttons to open the doors. Funny how time flies, and the D's will soon, along with Blake Hall and the 1962 stock, pass into history.

Most interesting. Like the method the motorman uses of changing platforms at Epping. Also note that in the interior of the BO at Blake Hall only two of the 12-15 denominations of Edmondson cards were "flat in tubes", indicating the other dozen or so had not been issued that day.

Lovely films. The silence at Blake Hall is wonderful, as is the old Rover parked outside! I'm so pleased I used Blake Hall (for the sake of it, mind) when I was little. It's nice to be able to say "I actually got on and off a tube train in the middle of nowhere a long time ago!". The wait for the train's return seemed interminable to a kid.

I was 27 or 28 when I used it & I have to say it wasn't far off eternity realised for me! You almost wish it was still open just so you could get off there & ask where the nearest Costas is. Also the possibility that, if the Catholics are right, purgatory could be.....................!

Excellent footage, from what I've observed or rather heard, am I right in saying that the 62TS had Westinghouse rotary compressors? I did however through other videos I've watched, heard compressors on 62's that sounded like Reavell Compressors which might of been installed on a later date. All speculation, I'm sure someone here knows.

At which station did the Station Foreman sell tickets from a table along with the morning Papers. Or was this just a myth?

Health & Safety would have a field day with guards and passengers leaning out of moving cars, let alone the driver changing trains!

Health & Safety would have a field day with guards and passengers leaning out of moving cars, let alone the driver changing trains! Back in the day, there were many practices that went on which were technically against the rules; a blind eye or two were often turned! Another Dennis special here - does anybody recognise any of these characters?

Did only Loughton crews work Epping - Ongar?

Did only Loughton crews work Epping - Ongar? I believe so, although Leytonstone crews took over when Loughton crew depot closed. It subsequently reopened, but Epping to Ongar had closed by then.

Quite a few shots of the yellow platform bench, with the GER initials cast into the supports, where I remember sitting on quite a few occasions waiting for a train. I wonder where that bench is now.

When a young twenty something I organised a car rally type of social event where we all went out to the country. I made Blake Hall station the 'destination'.
On another time, there was an event when many shooting stars were going to be visible and wanting to go somewhere reasonable dark I took some brothers to the bridge which looks over Blake Hall station. The lighting was not so bright that it interfered with what we were hoping to see, and whilst there 'every so often' a train rattled by. The sky watching was also quite good.
