I was at Farringdon today and I noticed a bit of bagged up equipment on the signal post of OH28, the station starter at Farringdon westbound, but I had no idea what it could be. Is anyone able to help me out? It was quite low down the signal post and there seemed to be a bracket on which was mounted whatever this was. It looked quite large and like some sort of indicator, currently not commissioned. I think it must be quite new as I've not seen it before.

It's probably a new rail gap indicator. The existing Chalton St to Moorgate traction current sections are due to be divided in two at Farringdon in the near future.

It's almost certainly a new Rail Gap Indicator, as Harsig says. There's one beneath OJ24 at King's Cross too.
We have actually done some of the work for splitting the current sections in two already; a new repeater relay was installed at Kings Cross last summer (it had to be commissioned prior to the Christmas closure) but the rest of the work is tied to the commissioning of the new substation gap.
