This thread is probably the deffinition of geeky, so my apologies! 2008, and its roughly: 8 years since the last 1959ts 9 years since the last 1972mk1/1962ts 10 years...83ts Etc, etc. Whilst there are probably many drivers and staff still working for tfl who've worked these trains (and a few cars are still in departmental service) my interest lies in the generation of stock before; the R, COP, Q, 35ts, pre38ts, F and T stocks. These stocks were withdrawn from pax service between 46 and 25 years ago. I don't exactly know what the turnover rate of staff is, but I'm fairly certain the number of people that have first hand working experiance of these trains is declining. I, like the rest of my generation, missed out when it came to the red trains, so if anyone out there has worked them (even after withdrawl) I would be most fascinated to hear about it. The foibles, what they handled like, any tricks or common practices with them, pet hates, pros and cons etc. I know of no other outlet likely to provide such information, so any and all would be welcome. Ben

I remember the 83ts/59ts/72mk1s well, but I too am interested in the O-P-Q/R/F/T stocks, as I am building model versions of them!

This is what I remember travelling on from 1969-75: A, C, COP, 1938, 1956, 1959, and 1962 stocks.
I was born in 1964 and we returned to the States the next year. So I don't know if my family ever travelled on "Standard" stock, or even Q.

I'm still trying to find out where the equipment on the 'D' end CO/CP cars was located-such as what the compressor etc looked like! Any former drivers out there....
