Apparently they've noticed a crack in one component of the 332s (Heathrow Express fleet) which has meant that they need to be grounded. In order to run HEx, they've decided to nab some 360s from Heathrow Connect to transport all that air around!

Are they offering cheaper tickets for the privilege of travelling in a reduced environment of comfort and refinement?

I don't think that they are reducing ticket prices, although I reckon that 1st class ticket holders may be refunded the difference to a standard class fare.

So does this mean that the passengers who would use the cheaper Connect service will now have to pay £17 instead of £10.20?

I've never been able to work this out, how is level access achieved with the express trains, are the trains floors lower (meaning the express trains are level with all platforms at Paddtington) or are the platforms higher (meaning the connect trains that are being used ATM are level)?

Are the train floor heights of the 360s and 332s not the same?

I am surprised that the Yorkshire Class 333 trains which I thought were essentially the same trains as those used by HeX Class 332's have not also been removed from service. Maybe they have been checked and found to be OK?

Let's hope everything is back to normal for the weekend! Otherwise it's going to be fun for everyone going to Heathrow with the Picc suspension between Northfields and Hammersmith - and all the publicity sending people via Connect!

I heard Lynn Bowles on the traffic report yesterday saying that Heathrow Express were accepting Heathrow Connect tickets.
