Hi Everyone, we were spotting on Saturday and travelled on central line. Passed Ruislip depot about 9.30am and 5.15pm and saw 2 of what I think are called Rail Adhesion Sets, light in colour, 2 x 4 car sets. Does anyone know what the numbers are for these. Any help gratefully received from 2 Brummies!! Thanks, Dek

I'm not 100% sure what's currently sat outside Ruislip, and whether the 62TS Rail Adhesion Trains are still there (they often move to Acton Works after the Sandite season), but it's entirely possible. Did they look anything like this? 8-car 1962 stock unit outside Neasden earlier in the year. 1406 - Neasden by Jack Gordon, on Flickr If yes, then the numbers *should* be 1407-9459-9577-1682-1681-9125-2406-1406. I'll confirm this in the morning as I could have got muddled with 2014's formation...

If that is correct it seems perhaps a little odd that they seem to have swapped the end cars from two original 4 car sets. And is there any reason why it has 3 NDMs and only 1 trailer?

The current formation is 1406-2682-9125-1681+1682-9577-2406-1407.
The original Sandite car (9459) is to be re-motored as an NDM (which is what it was originally), giving seven motored cars out of eight.

Do these trains need to be extra powerful? Does the sandite solution weigh more than a train crammed with passengers?

The train is essentially empty apart from the sandite solution and delivery apparatus (I got a good look when the east end train was reversing in platform 2 at Leytonstone) so I suspect it probably doesn't weigh less than a full train. It is very differently distributed though which might make a difference?

May be it needs 8 cars for the east end train as the hills are higher on the Epping line and may be more trees along side the line.

1407-9459-9577-1682-1681-9125-2406-1406
Another quick question If I could, when these units are not in use, are they stored at Acton Works and if so are they visible from a public place? Thanks, Dek
