Hi Everyone, I'm currently making the R49 stock for bve using Darren Carters brillant cab, i would like to know some information about the train. i would like to firtsly know what the M.G In means, and also if anybody could tell me where or if there is a current lamp and and door lamp as i'm asuming there used to be guard on the train. or If anybody has any information about the train could you post it here as it would be much appreciated. 'M.G In' = "Motor Generator In" i.e Motor Generator running. This was a non-illuminated flag indicator, if the M.G didn't run the flag dropped down inside the box and then nothing was shown. There is therefore no 'current lamp' as you call it.
Yes, there was a Guard on the rear of the train but there was no 'door lamp' for the driver. The only indication the driver had that the doors were initially closed was the bell signal ringing in his ears! (mounted just behind his head). While driving along, the driver had no indication that the doors were remaining closed therefore- just the Guard looking at his indications on the rear of the train.

Also, only 6 R49 DM were built. A end (facing Ealing) 21146* 21147 D end (facing Upminster)22679* 22680* 22681 22682 The rest were R38/1/2/3.
