I swear on many recent maps, Woolwich station is shown as interchanging with Woolwich Arsenal after all.

I swear on many recent maps, Woolwich station is shown as interchanging with Woolwich Arsenal after all. Where interchange is "exit the station, walk up the road, cross the main road, walk past the market, enter DLR" No different to the Walthamstow Central - Walthamstow Queens Road "interchange" which involves a walk through a car park and housing estate.

So my Wood Lane/White City gripe seems trivial, in comparison, since you only need to walk up the road.

Last time I was in London I did the Bow Church to Bow Road interchange. Took far longer than I expected and at one stage thought I was lost.

They have taken down the old Woolwich Arsenal boundary wall so that the walk will be reduced.

Changing at Abbey Wood will be far easier, no need to exit the paid area - it's just a cross over the foot bridge to the other platform side. It is also in Zone Four, so no fare diference applies.

Why would you need to change at Woolwich. If you need somewhere like Greenwich, Blackheath or Lewisham, wouldn't it still be better to get the DLR. But of course, if you travel to somewhere like Erith and Dartford, better off going to Abbey Wood.

The station is really for the very expensive homes around it which is why the developer has paid so much to make it happen.

The station will be useful for people living nearer it than Abbey Wood or the Lewisham branch of the DLR who want to get to Canary Wharf, and for people travelling to Woolwich from Crossrail destinations. If you want Crossrail destinations west of there getting the DLR and changing at Poplar for Canary Wharf Crossrail will possibly be easier. If/when Crossrail gains a station for City Airport, then there will likely be no need to interchange between rail modes at Woolwich Crossrail.
