According the the UK Paliament hereGBP 5.13 billion in 2005 money. Careful though whose billion you're using (i.e. 10^9 or 10^12)

Note the change of name of the Hounslow stations pinned down to Tuesday 1st December 1926, and Hounslow Central was originally "Hounslow Central (for Heston). My late grandfather walked from Heston down to HC each work day, and then during the war at weekends, to his job as a Civil Servant at the Admiralty.
