A couple of times when I've been through Victoria, a Seven Sisters train had an equals sign next to the destination on the sides of the cars, rather than a diamond that used to indicate a staff train. Has the symbol changed or does the = sign mean something different?

I keep seeing the equals sign too rather than a diamond. Maybe it has just changed.

I'm pretty sure that both are in use.

Seven Sisters with a diamond denotes a staff train Seven Sisters= denotes a 62/63 road reverser Seven Sisters on its own (northbound trains) normally denotes a depot stabler

Ahhh, so what was previously "Seven Sisters" is now "Seven Sisters =" whilst trains that stable (rather then just visit) now have the "naked" destination.

A Seven Sisters train that continues on, without passengers, to serve the staff platform in Northumberland Park depot and return.

In the case of the Vic Line this refers to the timetabled service of trains between Seven Sisters and Northumberland Park, provided to take staff to/from the depot. Other lines also have trips in the timetable where required, for example the last trip back from Mill Hill East is designated as staff to allow station staff to return to Finchley Central if required, also there used to be a last trip from Edgware back to Golders Green for drivers stabling at Edgware (I presume this still runs in the current WTT). The rationale is it reduces the amount of late-finishing duties being either night duties or having to have a taxi provided back to Golders Green, remote booking off not being allowed after a certain cut-off time (which I can't remember off the top of my head!). Normally staff would either travel in the front car, of if train staff in the cab subject to room.

Thanks. I was rather worried that I was asking a really, really stupid question with an obvious answer.

I read it as 'train staff' at first. I'm glad I didn't start to explain what that was!
