Wasn't a crossover installed east of Hanger Lane station as part of the Central Line Project?If so,is it ever used in passenger service?

You're not thinking of the one to the east of Northolt station which supplements the reversing siding, are you? If so, I believe the answer is: not very often.

If so, I believe the answer is: not very often. Theres a rusty rail move that runs empty from RUI DT to NOR which reverses via that crossover. EDIT It's train 64 which arrives at 07.24 on a Sunday morning. You are quite welcome to have a look. I, however, will be in bed.

I think it's used a little more than maybe one would expect, quite often a late runner will be reversed "off the platform" to save a couple of minutes, depending on whether there's a Ruislip train behind. Unfortunately covering these sort of moves depends on being in the right place at the right time as they're not easy to predict (unless you are on speaking terms with the controller and a convenient opportunity arises to do something in a particular way, which I managed for the old 16 siding at Edgware, the last bit of track on the Northern Line I'd never been over!).
