Apologies if I've put this in the wrong place.
how do I go about getting a season ticket now the booking offices are closed?
also, if I buy a ticket for 2016, when does it need to start to avoid the price rise?
thanks

TfL are saying that season tickets should be renewed by 31 December - I assume this is to allow the order to be processed online and downloaded to a nominated station for collection before 2 Jan 2016 when the fares increase. However if you don't need an annual ticket then you should be able to buy on 1 Jan at a ticket machine and get the ticket put on your card straight away.

hello - thank you for the reply, It's an annual z1-5, on an oystercard (which is registered, but I have never looked at an on-line account for it). I am not near an Overground station. There's a national rail station here, but they have a "don't ask about oyster cards" card in the window.

hello - thank you for the reply, It's an annual z1-5, on an oystercard (which is registered, but I have never looked at an on-line account for it). I am not near an Overground station. There's a national rail station here, but they have a "don't ask about oyster cards" card in the window. tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/buying-ticketsAh well there are a few options. Note the complete lack of reference to odd period and annual tickets on the above link and FAQ section. I would suggest you set up an Oyster online account - it gives you some extra options and you can track your journeys and double check that any extension fares have been charged properly. 1. via the TfL website but you will need to establish an account for that and you can collect the new ticket at a nominated location including your local NR station by touching your Oyster Card on the gate or validator. The separate paper Gold Card will be posted to you separately. On receipt of that Gold Card you will need to ask a member of LU station staff to reset your Gold Card discount on your Oyster Card. Yes it really takes three separate transactions and a journey to renew your ticket! 2. via phone and then the same process as above for collection, paper gold card and gold card discount. 3. If you could get to an Overground station which has a ticket office then I think they can update your Oyster Card on the spot and I think the Gold Card. Not sure if they can set the 4. A TfL Visitor Centre should also be able to issue an Annual on Oyster on the spot. tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/buying-tickets/visitor-centres5. I have a TfL document which says Oyster Ticket Stops should be able to issue Annual Travelcard tickets but if you wanted to pay by plastic then I suspect many smaller shops will charge a surcharge to cover the merchant fee for using a credit card. I can't be certain that the document remains up to date although the TfL link suggests it is. 6. The few LU ticket offices which are former Silverlink stations (Kew Gardens, Gunnersbury, Queens Park and up to Harrow and Wealdstone but not Willesden Junction) should also be able to issue an annual on Oyster and issue the Gold Card. In short it's all a pathetic mess if you ask me. Why oh why LU had to create such a muddle for its highest value customers I will never ever understand. Good luck in renewing your ticket.

just by way of update - did this today by phone (the 0343(?) 222 1234 number). Was surprisingly painless actually - took about 5-10 mins (and that included updating my address), and I can pick it up by touching in at my local national rail station (on the First Great Northern to Moorgate). Gold card will go in the post.

I remember the fun I had in late September trying to get an odd-period 18+ discounted Travelcard AND avoiding an LUL ticket office in the process (station supervisor at Hounslow East sold me one in July with no issues). Unfortunately it is not possible to get any Travelcard with the 18+ discount online. It was c2c at Limehouse that eventually managed to sell it without problems, after having tried 1. Highbury & Islington: I'd forgotten Highbury was operated by LUL, and the ticket office had closed there. The member of staff appeared to be unaware that odd period Travelcards exist, and after seeing the previous option on the screen (I wanted different zones this time) he asked me to try online or by phone instead. 2. Essex Road: Person there said that their machines don't have the option to sell one with the discount. 3. Dalston Junction: They said that a Monthly was the longest they can sell. The fourth attempt worked, and c2c's ticket office staff had more knowledge about Oyster than TfL's own staff

It is probably due to the fact that C2C staff have had some intensive training prior to the launch of the "South East Flexible Ticketing Systems" on their C2C Smart Cards on the ITSO Format. The new ticketing system is designed to work Tube Ticket Gates too (hence a C2C Smartcard can be used on the Tube within the appropriate Zone(s)).

However if you buy it via the Oyster Photocard website it gives the correct 18+ price.
