I've had a response (that was very quick ) It would appear that the unit is currently being worked on - no details of what the specifics of the works currently are, although when I had a previous update last September, I was advised that the CTC (Certificate of Technical Conformance) had lapsed due to the 5-year ultrasonic axle test certificate having expired with additional work also being undertaken - the speed of the work was limited to the availability of skilled manpower (shared between road & rail vehicles). Again this is subject to the availability of skilled staff, however the LU Museum has the intention of running the 38ts in the summer or possibly even earlier. Reading between the lines, it seems that they're hopeful that it will be part of the Northern centenary celebrations News that the unit will be used/should be available for running again would probably be first announced on the LU Museum website: www.ltmuseum.co.ukRemember that the next LU Museum open weekend at Acton is set for 3/4 March - so we'll find out more then Regards Christopher

Just another question. What route would this stock have to take to get from the museum to Golders Green. I'm thinking of doing a short MSTS activity. Darren.

Piccadilly to KXSP - then shunt around there to get to Golders Green.

Thanks Tubechallenger. Piccadilly eastbound it is then. Incidently is the stock subject to any speed restrictions. Do they use a battery loco to get it to the conductor rails.

Wouldn't they use shed leads?

If the depot museum still has a suitable power supply and very long leads. I don't recall seeing any overhead trolleys still in situ?

I asked the question when we were at the open day on the 3rd March. The curator said they used a shunter ( battery loco ) to drag it to the current rails as there are no leads or power supply in the depot.
BTW Chris W did you managed to get the latest on this stock. Darren.
