Does anyone know what the odd looking oblong blocks are between Hai and Fai on the OR? There are also a few approaching NEP too.

If they're what I think you are describing they are WW2 "dragon's teeth" to prevent attack by tanks etc of the aerodrome at Fairlop....

yes-the runways were there until the late 60's Used to race banger motorbikes there @ 1950-51 The entrance was off Aldborough Rd:/Painters Rd:

The old airfield is now Fairlop Waters Country Park and golf course, not sure if any of the old runways are still there. Ray

Are the old radar towers still at North Weald?Could see them from miles away from the train.
