I just got a copy of 'Farewell to the Q stock trains' and in it it is mentioned that Q27 car 4361 was preserved by the the LURS, along with Q35 trailer 08063. What happened to this car? It is not around anymore.

Right. The acquisition was before my time with LURS, but I asked the late Bob Greenaway why the Society bought a trailer? He said that Driving Motor cars had been preserved and so it was thought a trailer was apposite. When I was around however, and there is a member of this forum who probably can tell you the whole story, it was languishing in the erstwhile Ashford railway centre or whatever it was called, whose freehold was owned by BR. The BR Board gave everyone ay Ashford notice to quit, which included the Q trailer. However it took it seems an age and some Society money to get BR to shift it, and eventually it was taken by a Class 33 with match wagons [borrowed from LT I think for the occasion] to Ruislip Depot as Gordon Hafter had arranged for it to be stored there. That's the last time I heard of it, but it's now in the Museum at Acton according to earlier postings on this forum. I think Bob deserves plaudits for what he achieved, and now there is his legacy now that he has sadly passed on.
In addition there were also the CSLR car bodies, but I have no idea where they are now. They were mentioned recently I gather on the forum.

Hopefully the C&SLR loco at Acton is safe too.

The C&SLR locomotive and the Padded Cell carriage are currently packed in protective crates inside the museum at Covent Garden.

Luckily I was not involved in any way with work on the carriage.

Just think, if this car had been saved as well as 08063 then the LT Museum's Q stock train could have been very diffrent. Q23 DM 4148 - Q35 T 08063 - R38 DM 22624*- Q27 DM 4361 * This car was built as a Q38 trailer and could be converted back to a trailer. This would be much more intresting than having two Q38 DM's at each end. Anyone for a replica Q27 DM ;D
