A long time ago Harsig once posted the layout of Mansion House in 1910, showing the many loco spurs and sidings formerly used to service steam engines during their layovers in the days when the station was the terminus for services. I have also seen pictures which show a similar arragnement at Aldgate.
What sort of arrangements were generally made to bring the necessary raw materials to these sidings, such as coal and water? Did the railway buy its water from the local distributor and run its own coal trains?
