This image taken in 1943 has me perplexed? Firstly because for the life of me I cannot recall a route indicator to the left on the northbound Bakerloo starter. Was there a conection to the noprthbound Met local then? Secondly I am wondering what the photographer is standing on to be so high up? The only thing I can think of is the old canteen roof! Actually the junction route indicator was illuminated for the route from the northbound Bakerloo Platform to the Northbound Fast Line. It was a straight green for access to the northbound local. It should be recalled that until 1954 there were only four tracks between Wembley Park Station and the flyunder where the Stanmore branch diverged and the local line was shared between the Bakerloo and Met over this stretch. This thread includes a link to diagrams of the Bakerloo which will show the track layout as it was at the time your picture was taken. Finally I would imagine the picture was actually taken from the signal cabin.
