The chaos might just as well have happened on the outward trip through no fault of the Cravens unit.

it was late 1979 that I applied,and got,one,of about 20 drivers vacancies that was advertised at stratford depot to man the new service north Woolwich to camdem road service. I passed out for driving early 1980,and after route and traction training,worked quite a lot on the service with cravens units(and sometimes other units if they they ended up at stratford for some reason,)

Jacko, think you are confusing the different Cravens. Above posts (a bit off thread) refer to the 1960 Tube stock. But interesting you were a driver on that route, now so overcrowded. Any stories to tell of those first months? By the way, I understand the next Loughton Historical Society newsletter is to carry an article on the main thread subject.
